100 bucks the letter says something about contributions towards the end. That's the only goal of these letters, gimme gimme gimme. CO's aren't being reimbursed when they can't go and have their donations in the box at the KH, and I'm sure plenty of old people aren't comfortable donating online.

CO'S "encouraging" letter to circuit

Having trouble with parents staying home?
by Steel inmy parents are in there late 60s, they have a net worth of 2 to 3 million dollars and a 2500 sq ft home.
my dad works a hobby job at a service station for boredom reasons.
it’s a kiosk type between glass but it does require some contact with the public.

Given what you indicated, I'm assuming they're healthy. The risk for catching COVID-19 and dying is extremely low, even amongst the elderly if they're relatively healthy.
The largest deaths (50% or so in NYS) were in nursing homes where people are already frail and sick and after a hospital visit NYS forced them back into the nursing homes to re-infect the rest (less people reduces the state expense on these facilities) as well as to reduce reimbursement costs for Medicaid through the hospitals.
Given your parents did so well for themselves is an indicator that they worked hard, they didn't excess, they probably didn't smoke or drink (at least not much). That is a great predictor to live to 100 even with COVID-19.

Removing Historic Monuments and Statues - Does the Term "Historical" Make it Right or Wrong?
by RubaDub inafter further review and thought, i really don't see how removing a monument or statue that may be truly offensive to a large group of people is in some way rewriting history.. i think of germany or other parts of europe.
you don't see swastikas on buildings or statues of hitler or mussolini or other upper level generals in public.
would it be good for a person (think jewish) to drive around a city and see hitler in a public park, even though it is "historical?

@dropoffyourkeylee:
I do agree that some statues were placed with bad intent. But you don't always have to revere everyone that has a statue.
We have a local park with a statue of Frederick Douglass, my kids ask "who is that" and then I can explain about what he did and what he didn't do. People think Frederick Douglass was a great guy and he did a great deal of good but he was also a politician, he advised Lincoln on the plight of slaves but he was also sympathetic of extreme violence and murder on the part of his cause and a womanizer. Most of what we know about him is from autobiographies and his poems, so take his story with a grain of salt.
Same goes for Columbus, he was a great explorer but his primary objective was to get away from the religious persecution and his story is more nuanced than just discovering the Americas (or should I say, the Carribean).

@Daniel: you are free to prove what the majority of people in this world believe as factual is wrong.
If you can point to a biology textbook where biological sex is fluid in any other mammal ape.
These aren't right wing viewpoints, they have been considered facts for thousands of years outside of politics.
There are indeed people with mental illness but to play along with their delusions to the point of self-harm does not serve them well. There are plenty of examples of sex change regret as well as permanent damage to teenagers through hormone replacement and the suicide rate doesn't go down after treatment, even among those that integrate with society as their preferred sex which indicates something else is going on.
It's cruel to say "yeah, you have a problem, let's have some surgery and drugs that don't help, just so I can feel good and can be woke and tell our friends how great we are"

“White Privilege”
by minimus inlately that’s all i’ve been hearing about!
i’m sick and tired of listening to white people begging for forgiveness simply because they are white.
in a nearby town, a six year old girl asked her mom, “ why don’t we have a black lives matter march here?

The destruction of monuments is the destruction of history. The left wants to rewrite history, this is pure 1984 tactics, if you can't point to a monument or a book about what actually happened, the only narrative that remains is what the current governments and media tells you it is.
They are just setting up the preamble to Nazi America.

@redvip2000: Some people start 10 meters ahead because their daddy is rich, so what, that doesn't mean you get to shoot your opponent or cheat, it also doesn't mean you should be guaranteed to win because you don't want to train.
There are plenty of 'rich' black families and plenty of 'poor' white families, everyone has equality in opportunity in the US. If not, point me to the laws and policies in place today that are racist and keep people 'down'. And 'systemic racism' is just a god of the gaps, it's a religious precept, convenient but doesn't answer anything.
If you want equality of outcome, you will need to reduce opportunity for one group over the other, the USSR tried communism, China is failing pretty hard at it too, unions, everywhere it has been tried, it has failed or brought with it bad consequences.
And yes, look at the statistics, black women are more likely to succeed than any other group of college educated in the US and are actually overrepresented by a significant margin (20%). There are more black men represented (12%) than white men (35%) in college compared to racial representation in the general population (12% and 45%).

Black Lives Matter—Do You Agree With Their Philosophy?
by minimus ini agree with people who say all lives matter.
i think blm is a racist group.
if white people pushed an agenda saying white lives matter, some people would have a conniption..

It seems the Antifa way of policing themselves has failed. A warlord has established itself in the autonomous zone in Seattle and is wanton assaulting members they don't agree with.
- Protest police brutality
- Establish a police-free area
- Establish a police
- Commit police brutality

@OnTheWayOut: That is a very superficial way of seeing the movement. It's like saying GreenPeace is about for Peace for Nature when they really are a very militant activist group, borderline terrorist, with a very narrow agenda that isn't really about nature or peace. Or that ISIS is just about creating an independent Islamic state. Or Nazis are just a form of socialism. That's all true, the Nazi's and ISIS had a political platform that had 'good' aspects, for a very narrow group of beneficiaries, that sure, may have been oppressed at times, and at the cost of a great amount of others.
Sure some of the BLM platform is 'good' but the solutions they propose (riots, burning, changing language, destroy the police) is anything but. And that is a problem. The primary issue BLM has is that, unlike Dr. King in the 60s, there is no system that is inherently racist to stand up against so they invented one and then demand that everybody agrees and if anyone disagrees or goes against the heterodoxy they must be destroyed.
If you really believe the system is racist to the core, the US has a first and a second amendment, if you can't get your representatives voted in, perhaps that says something. If you still believe that you didn't get voted in because "rrrrrrrrrrracism" form a militia, get some weapons and start policing your own neighborhoods and declare your independence. Black Panthers tried that. It failed miserably as it turns out criminals are bad at policing. But you can try failed policy again.

new situation in world helpful to org?
by Magnum insometimes new situations can provide cover for one’s mistakes or intentions.
for example, suppose that i crack the windshield in my dad’s car one night.
i go home, park the car in its usual spot in the yard, and go to bed without telling my dad because i’m scared and i’m trying to think of a way out of the situation.

I think we've seen this train coming for a while. Many here have suggested this in the past. It makes sense, they probably have a few more billion tied up in real estate and running a website can be done with a dozen or so people and a handful of translators, it's not like they are anything special. You can run this organization without any collections for another decade or so if not longer. Just tell the plebs to buy a tablet or even better, sell them yourself. -

You're constructing a straw man, nowhere does Simon says that all black people support BLM. You read that because you desperately want to see racism and partisanship where none exists.
Plenty of blacks, especially the ones that have had higher education, a business are conservative but BLM has a lot more supporters, both black and white as a proportion of total population than the KKK ever had even though their tactics and message are the same.
The mainstream media is a supporter of BLM and Antifa, that is what is scary about giving in to these hate groups, their message is immoral and outright evil, like the KKK, but BLM/Antifa are more akin to Nazis where they took an entire nation with them, even though the majority of Germans never agreed politically with the Nazis, their intimidation tactics are the same and can control a population into even worse atrocities.
We just had an event similar to Kristalnacht just happen in the US the only difference is the group they are attacking is the business owner and the middle class instead of the Jew. And if you wanted to see them try with the Jews, Al Sharpton incited antisemitic violence in the 90s using the same excuses.
